These images come from Uncle Arthur's Bible Stories (Arthur S. Maxwell), published by The Stanborough Press Limited, Watford, Herts. Although published in the 1950s, it features older 'library' pictures from various artists that weren't especially painted for this book.
This download features 8 hi-res images, which we have scanned from an original copy of the book. The images are in JPEG format, all 600dpi and range in size from 4080 pixels wide to 5784 pixels tall.
There are 6 colour images, the book cover, and also the illustration list included. The latter is to show that the picture 'The Fairest Child' (depicting Jesus holding a child, surrounded by lilies), is by Harold Copping - this picture appears to have been attributed online to various other artists. There are also four anonymous images and one by Joseph Scheurenberg.
The pictures are out of copyright and in the public domain, so you are free to use them in whatever way you'd like, including commercial use.
