James I of England, reigning from 1603 to 1625, was the first monarch to unite England and Scotland. He advocated for the divine right of kings and commissioned the King James Bible, which greatly influenced English literature. His rule faced challenges, including tensions with Parliament and conflicts with Catholic factions.
