This charming set of botanical illustrations by Hilda M. Coley appeared in the 7th volume of Arthur Mee's children's encyclopedia from the 1930s.

This download features 8 hi-res images, in JPEG format, by the British author and botanical artist Hilda M. Coley.

The images are all 600dpi and range in size from 3507 pixels wide/tall to 5642 pixels wide/tall.

Hilda Maud Coley (1884-1950) was born in Bedminster, Somerset, on 27th June 1884 to Samuel Birt Coley (b.1853), a Wesleyan Church Minister, and his wife Mary Walker Coley, nee Cooper. Her siblings included Edith (b.1881). Samuel (b.1883) and Arnold (b.1888).

Hilda became an artist and designer, specialising later on in botanical art. She illustrated flowers for Arthur Mee's Children's Encyclopedias in the 1930s.

The 1939 register lists her as being an author and artist, writing and illustrating educational works for children.

She never married and died on 15th June 1950.
