Born in 1861 in Canton, New York, Frederic Remington's fascination with the West began early, fuelled by his family's stories and his own experience during trips to the frontier.
Remington attended the Yale School of Art but left after his father's death, subsequently drifting through various jobs before committing to art. His career took off in the mid-1880s when he began illustrating for major publications like Harper's Weekly, capturing the rugged landscapes and dynamic life of the frontier with an authenticity and immediacy that captivated audiences.
His works often featured cowboys, Native Americans, soldiers and horses, capturing the drama and romance of the West.
Absolutely marvellous to find such a curated collection of some of Remington's finest work. I will create a separate wearable art section in our shop SPECIFICALLY for Remington - every cowboy knows his art; rich with tradition and authentically beautiful immortalizing a vanishing lifestyle.
