This illustration by Herbert Foxwell appeared in the Playbox Annual for 1917, a children's book from the Amalgamated Press. Tiger Tim was a character who originally appeared in the Daily Mirror newspaper in 1904, created by Julius Stafford Baker.
Herbert Foxwell took over in 1914, becoming the defining artist for Tiger Tim. Foxwell drew the strip for The Rainbow and was the lead illustrator for the iconic Tiger Tim's Annual covers and comic pages until 1933.
