Arthur Wilkinson
I can find little on this artist. Other sites show his dates as c.1860-1930 but I can find nothing to corroborate this.
There is an Arthur Wilkinson from Somerset who is listed on the 1939 register as Arthur Stanley Gair Wilkinson, artist - this puts the death date of 1930 in doubt.
There is also a William Arthur Wilkinson, born in 1860, who is listed as a teacher of drawing and artist in the 1891 census, and landscape artist in the 1901 and 1911 censuses. He was married to Annie Worrall Wilkinson, also an artist, and had children Marion, Gilbert, Eric and Edith.
This family came from Liverpool in the UK and moved down to London at some point.
We would love to find out more - if you are related to this artist or have concrete evidence as to Arthur Wilkinson's dates and/or his life, please let us know.

William Orpen's 'To the Unknown British Soldier in France'
There is a fascinating story about this picture that not only highlights the pomposity and arrogance of the politicians of the time of World War I but has also introduced me to the word 'vainglory', which I hadn't heard before but which is no doubt appropriate for some of today's leaders.
