Violet Edgecombe Jenkins Biography
Violet Edgecombe Jenkins, nee Shepherd (1876-1943) was born on 14th March 1876 in Holme, Westmoreland, UK, now part of Cumbria. She was the daughter of the manager of a carpet manufacturing business. The 1891 census records that, at the age of 15, she was at boarding school in Brighton, Sussex.
She married Arthur Henry Jenkins (b. 15 August 1871), an artist and art master, in Pontefract, Yorkshire, in 1905. Their children included Brian C. (b.1907), Kenneth F. (b.1910) and Nancy W. (b.1916).
Violet produced a number of illustrations that appeared in Blackie's children's annuals in the early 20th century.
She died on 5th November 1943 in Wiltshire.
