Alfred Glendening

Alfred Augustus Glendening, Jr. (1861-1907) was the son of a successful landscape artist who worked in the second half of the 19th century.

He began his career as a railway clerk until, like his father, he took up painting. Primarily, he was a painter of genre scenes and he lived in London, where he painted many of his works.

He married Ruth Fryett in Deptford in 1888, and the couple had a son, also Alfred, born in 1889. He died in Rochford, Essex, in 1907 at the age of 45.
