George Flemwell

George Flemwell

George Flemwell (1865-1925), was a British artist and writer, known for his floral landscapes, especially those depicting the tranquility and beauty of Alpine regions.

Flemwell was born in Croydon, Surrey, England and was a pupil of William Powell Frith RA (1819-1909).

Flemwell married Louisa Grace Priddle at the age of 47 (she was 48) in Lausanne, Switzerland, in 1912.

His books include Alpine Flowers & Gardens (1910), The Flower-fields of Alpine Switzerland (1911), Sub-Alpine Plants (1912), Lucerne (1913), and Villars and its Environs (1914).
