Joshua Cristall (1768-1847) was a significant English watercolour painter, known for his depictions of rustic life, landscapes, and classical figures, and was a founding member and President of the Society of Painters in Water-Colours (Old Water-Colour Society).
He trained at the Royal Academy Schools, exhibited widely, and his work captured the simple dignity of country people, making him a notable figure in early 19th-century British art, with pieces held by major museums.
