Arthur Briscoe

Arthur John Trevor Briscoe RE RI (1873-1943) was a British painter and etcher, born in Chester, the son of John Briscoe (b.1843), a cotton broker and latterly a Justice of the Peace, and Eliza Briscoe (b.1845). 

Briscoe married Mabel Grace Shawyer in Ipswich in 1901 and they had at least a son, William Arthur Trevor Briscoe (b.1903).

He studied at the Slade Art School in London and at the Academy Julian in Paris and then spent the rest of his time sailing, becoming one of the most prominent British marine artists of the 20th century.
