Ada L. Bowley Biography
Ada Leonora Bowley (1866-1954) was a British artist who was known mostly for her postcards & book illustrations for the Raphael Tuck publishing house.
Ada was born on 22nd December 1866 to Edwin Bowley (b.1835) and his wife, Sarah Ellen Bowley, nee Leonard (b.1835), in Hampstead. London.
Ada and her sister, Sophia May Bowley, studied art at the Blackheath School of Art, and they lived and worked together throughout their lifetime.
Ada illustrated a version of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland in 1911. Her works are signed Ada Bowley, A.L. Bowley, or A.L.B.
