Albert E Jackson Biography
Albert Edward Frederick Jackson (1873-1952) was born on 15th August 1873 in Kentish Town, London.
He started his working life as a black and white (advertising) artist. He progressed to book illustration, illustrating many classics, including The Water Babies, The Arabian Nights, Tales from Shakespeare, Robin Crusoe and Alice in Wonderland.
Albert lived in Sussex with his wife Eva (Amy Agnes) who was born in 1875, together with children Muriel (b.1902), Cecile (b.1904), Hugh (b.1906), Gilbert (b.1909) and Peter (b.1915). Both Muriel and Cecile followed their father into art, both training at the School of Art, Hastings.
Albert died on 3rd April 1952.
