Louis Agassiz Fuertes was an American illustrator and artist born in 1874 in New York. He set new standards for ornithological art and is considered as one of the most prolific American bird artists after John James Audubon. He made thousands of bird and animal paintings, based on studies in nature and details from fresh specimens, that illustrate a range of ornithological and animal works.
He died in a car accident near New York in 1927, shortly after returning from an expedition to Abyssinia. The beautiful pictures he painted whilst on that Abyssinian expedition are included on this DVD.

All pictures are named in the following format:- Artist name & dates (where known) – name of publication the picture is from & date – picture name/description Eg. Fuertes, L.A. (1874-1927) – Abyssinian Birds & Mammals 1930 – Crested Hornbill
All of the images were scanned at 300 dpi and range from 1000 pixels – 3,800 wide/tall.
