The full title of the book is Bon-mots of Samuel Foote and Theodore Hook, and it contains various conversational witticisms of the day, some of which haven't quite faired the test of time. Some of Beardsley's 'grotesques' as they were called are little more than adolescent doodles, and he seemed to love an embryo!
