There are pictures by Mark Catesby (1683-1749) from his Natural History series from as early as 1754; Edward Donovan (1768-1837) from the Naturalist’s Repository 1824; George Brettenham Sowerby (1788-1854) from The Zoology of Captain Beechey’s Voyage 1839; Daniel Solzman from Naturgeschichte des Thierreichs 1780 and more.

So many of this luscious illustrations would look beautiful in a frame – just imagine those glorious shell pictures, framed and in a bathroom or downstairs toilet! Incredibly in vogue and beautiful just as they are!

The pictures are named in the following format:-

Donovan, E. (1768-1837) – Naturalist’s Repository 1824 – Hectoride Butterfly

Ie. Artist name and dates (if known) – Publication and date – Picture name or description

All of the images were scanned at 300 dpi and range from 1460 pixels to a fabulous 6826px wide/tall.
